Weekly Inspiration

It's gonna be hot this week. I'm trying my hardest not to sweat on my commute. Oof. Here are five ways to cool down. Xx.

stay in, do crafts.

Sometimes going outside when it’s hot is nice. Sometimes it’s not. On those “not” instances, I’m a fan of a good DIY,  and these door tassels have the best pop of color and pizzazz for spring vibes.

I'll be sharing one of my favorite cocktails this week (pulling it from the 2016 archives), but find this one to be serious inspo -- green drinks and refreshing to boot? Count me in. The real question is: will this make me like gin finally?

this airy look

I love the messy bun juxtaposed with the pulled together silks and jewelry. It looks cool, relaxed, and everything you'd want for a cocktail hour outside or date night.

no bake meals

do. not. turn. the. oven. on. just don't do it. Instead, slice some veggies, throw down some grapes, and go crazy with the dips and cheese for a meal you'll want to have on repeat but won't leave you fanning your face to enjoy.

Get your slow flow on or use the heat to boost your sweat game -- when it comes to yoga, you really can't go wrong.

I've been dreaming of a bar cart for too darn long -- re: the dozens upon dozens of setups I've pinned. Seeing this bold lip print and pineapple, along with the pops of pink, has me utterly convinced I need to redesign my apartment ASAP. Also, that bottle holder *heart eyes*. When sad, try to dream a little, even if it's about bar carts.

When I'm sad, I spend time planning parties -- weddings for my friends, my best friend's birthday bashes, cozy dinner parties. Sometimes, I create them around cocktail recipes. This recipe makes me think of a simple Saturday afternoon with girlfriends. Mix up a batch of these margaritas to go with some mango pineapple salsa, blue corn tortilla chips, and a playlist that has you wanting to dance. Decorations not required.

finding art

some days, disappearing into a world someone else has created is the only way to survive -- whether that be in novels, poetry, or art. I've found myself drawn to art created for short poetry, and they usually look like errant emotions someone has pulled all together and stored for safe keeping on a page.

buy a plant

sometimes you need to be in charge of something's life to make you feel like living. A plant that is hard to kill, purifies the air, and doesn't need anything more than water seems like a great start. I got mine here

9 Great Vibes Links I Love

Embracing our brand and loving our content.

We took a nice little July 4th vacay, not posting anything new last week, in an effort to sort through some life changes happening around here. To mindfully bring ourselves back to work mode, we wanted this week to be filled with all things mental health. To demonstrate this on our end, these nine links we love are a curation of some of our favorite posts on The Guide. Check out the nine GVG content links we still really love ...

My Favorite Sleep Mask

It clearly gets the message across.

sleep-mask.PNG

If there is one thing worth valuing, it is quality of sleep. Every place I live has an absurd amount of light from street lamps coming through the window, so I started using a sleep mask at night to black it out. In my opinion, a sleep mask should be made of breathable fabric, large enough to clearly keep out the light, be adjustable, and also be fun/pretty in appearance. I not only love this mask for the message it gets across, but it also checks off all of those boxes. The fact that it is inexpensive and comes with earplugs is just a cherry on top. Pack it in your bag for long flights, vacation, or plain ol' nap time.
